Facts About DJ NG
Hmmmm??!
Biography
After smashing into
the UK House & Garage club circuit, DJ NG has captured
his ever-growing following through his influential sounds
and ambitious mixing style.
Summing up his sound and style as ‘URBANCE’ (a
cross between ‘urban’ and ‘dance’
music styles), NG’s production-work has been played
by the likes of some of the UK’s leading DJ’s
on London’s Kiss 100 and BBC’s Radio 1Xtra. His
ever-growing support has been gratified by the long awaited
release of his first in a series of mix compilations.
NG’s mixing techniques and selections incorporate a
vast array of his musical influences picked up through his
life long education with sound and his daily journeys. With
his inspirations ranging from many forms of urban music down
to electro-acoustic (art)
music, it has given him the motivation to explore new sounds,
unafraid to ease new styles of music to his listeners within
his eclectic sets.
With ties to many producers up and down the country, NG has
managed to obtain a vast display of exclusive personalised
dub-plates, this helping him hold a diverse and at many a
time, exclusive selection within his club and radio sets.
DJ’ing at
a young age, his involvement with UK Garage came about through
his friends introducing him to the un-commercialised sound
of London’s pirate radio / the underground scene. Originally
going under various names prior to “NG”, his first
influences came about through his fixation to pirate radio
stations such as:
Raw Fm 90.0, Magic 90.2, Mission 90.6, Upfront 99.3…
It was stations like these that educated NG about the latest
‘House and Garage’ sounds and raves which were
the hype of their time. From here, NG’s skills started
to advance and he started to receive bookings through friends
and up and coming promoters both at small clubs and ram-jammed
house/hall parties across London in ‘98/’99.With
this small collection of events under his name, he got in
contact with an up & coming S.E. London Pirate who took
a liking to his 60min TDK demo. From here, he went on to hold
a secure prime time set, building a respectable reputation
for himself where he could display his mixing skills and his
fresh exclusive selection.
After two solid years of dedication to this station, NG formed
the urban music collective ‘SOUNDSQUAD’ which
gave him a commendable status as one of the top UKG DJ’s
within the Midlands’s university towns and cities. Following
the duration that SOUNDSQUAD were performing collectively,
NG’s recognition grew stronger with his invites/interviews
as a guest DJ on a variety of radio shows nationwide.
Currently, NG has joined the force behind one of London’s
elite community radio stations: Y-2-K (90.6 fm) – the
station that spawned BBC 1xtra’s notorious Heartless
Crew during its time as Mission 90.6 Fm.
NG has appeared alongside the likes of the UK’s industry
superiors and is set to take scene to a higher, globally recognised
level. With his eyes on the next ‘UK People’s
Choice awards’ (2005), NG’s looks to stamp his
contributions into the award books by his unstoppable dedication
to the music world.
