Really good night
DIY party style!
Music ranged from
Hardcore,Jungle / DnB and UKGarage which I was just getting
into. Lazy ripped it over Lady C's rolling DnB! Good up for
it party people and the wine did flow alongwith other
things;)
More recently was
New Years Eve 2004 at a rather nice hotel in Ascot with Dylan
O'Byrne. It was a mission picking up the sound system (thanks
Alfresco ;) much appreciated) and finding the venue but well
worth it! The party was organised by promoter and DJ Will
Burns. We hosted the 2nd room provided the good grooves and
it rocked!!!
Favourite Venue(s)
Have fond memories
at Surrey University Students Union and Vamps,Woking when
it was the Jazzmine but I don't really have a favourite club

Notting Hill Carnival at the right sound systems such
as KCC and the Rockin Crew, Good Times or Gaz's Rockin Blues.
Also the Respect Festival at the Dome or a park.

Facts About Duane "Faro" Farr
Got married 1/9/01 -the day when
England beat Germany 5-1!!! He is married to Claire and has
a handsome son called Oliver. Duane is mad about Pro wrestling
and has a superb collection of grapple vids! I was also
an extra in the Gladiator movie, but your can't see me as the
camera angle changes when I'm in shot!
Biography
Duane is the proprietor of Zest Entertainment which was
launched in the summer of 2003 in Woking, Surrey.
"In order to
run a DJ agency you need to know about dance music, he has
always had a passion for music from an early age. It helped
having an older sister who bought music. The music I first
liked in the early 80's included Musical Youth,Adam Ant and
Duran Duran - then pretty soon Breakdancing and Hip Hop arrived
from across the pond which grabbed my attention.
The Breakdance movie
and Beat Street were a big influence alongwith seeing the
older kids breaking in the streets to the sounds of the latest
Electro tape on their ghetto blasters."
Breakdancing wasn't
with us so much but the rapping was with records like Dougie
Fresh and the Get Fresh Crews seminal hit 'The Show' kept
reeling him in alongwith Run DMC and the Beastie Boys.
"As I was quite
young I mainly listened to music off the radio on the chart
show on a Sunday evening waiting for something Hip Hop sounding
to record onto tape. I still have those early tapes with Dougie
Fresh and The Beastie Boys. An older friend on our road Shane
Koster told me about Dave Pearces Rap show - 'A Fresh Start
To The Week' which helped me keep on top of the latest from
the underground."
"Being into
Hip Hop as my main thing it was easy to be narrowminded as
it was so cutting edge and it seemed like something you live
by not just listen to! Not long after leaving school I made
a friend called Abdul who was mates with some old school mates
who were now all Hip Hop heads (well then anyway!),through
Abdul I met Andy Cooper (MC Lazy Ace) who was busting some
lyrics at Abduls house and was well impressed! I became good
mates with Andy who got me into Funk,Ska and Raggae. He then
introduced me to the Notting Hill Carnival that summer in
1993. The following summer we all got into Jungle and a bit
of House on the side! A few years later I also got into Speed
Garage which became UK Garage."
"Hip Hop was always
my main thing, loved the breaking, graf & the music, still
do just got into other stuff as time has gone on. The Jungle
scene had a big influence too along with the Notting Hill
Carnival which I've gone to since '93. Got into House &
Garage as it was more lively downstairs at Bo's! Got bored
of waiting for one good Hip Hop tune and wanted to party and
pull birds!
My first break was
guest sets at Pews Bar for Connected Vibes/Melting Pot, which
was always eclectic and damn funky!
Mid to late nineties
hooked up with Lady C and a DJ who now calls himself Mark
'e' Fresh, we put on some great parties. A real corker was
a at Busbridge Village Hall for some 6th formers of Godalming
College, upfront music and upfront revellers!
I took a break from
partying and DJing to get married and become a Dad, then set
up the agency and started playing out again."
I'm a firm believer
in compilations. My favourites are those from Defected and
Norman and Joey Jay's Good Times comps and others put together
by people like Jazzie B and Gilles Peterson. Compilations
if they are the right ones are a good indication of what is
hot from someone who knows their stuff.
"My DJ sets are funky and eclectic, ranging from Rare
Groove and Disco to classic Hip Hop and upfront soulful RnB
with a sprinkling of groovyliscious House and Jazzy beats!"
In recent times I have also evolved into a party DJ available
for children's parties, 16, 18th, 21st, 40th, 50th,80th weddings
and engagements. I specialise in 30th birthdays.
